New Jersey Addiction Help

For a person struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, the prospect of seeking treatment can be frustrating, confusing or simply overwhelming but every year more addicts are recognizing the benefits. The Office of National Drug Control Policy reports that over 64,000 New Jersey addicts were admitted to drug and alcohol treatment programs in 2008. This number increased nearly 10,000 from 2006.

When considering treatment, there are a number of factors that you should consider. Addiction treatment options include detox, inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab and even counseling. The severity of your addiction will play a major role in the type of drug treatment you need. A short summary of each option is below.

Inpatient Treatment for New Jersey Addicts

Inpatient drug rehab programs require that you live in the treatment facility continuously for a period of no less than 30 days. Before you enroll, there are many inpatient treatment programs that will require you to undergo a detox period, particularly if you have a dependency to opiate-based drugs or alcohol. Counseling, another component of inpatient rehab, allows you to conquer your demons while living in an environment where you’re removed from negative influences. Inpatient treatment would be appropriate for you if you have a severe addiction that requires physical and psychological treatment. Once you’ve completed an inpatient program, you may benefit from joining an outpatient treatment program. Or you may choose outpatient treatment from the beginning.

Outpatient Treatment for New Jersey Addicts

Outpatient drug treatment allows you to continue going about your life while you seek help for your dependency. This treatment structure allows you to fulfill your life responsibilities even throughout the treatment process. It’s ideal if you have an addiction that has a lower level of physical dependency.

Detox for New Jersey Addicts

Drug detox treats the physical dependency of addiction by flushing the toxins from your body. Often detox lasts between three to seven days during inpatient treatment, and outpatient treatment can arrange for daily or weekly appointments. Depending upon the level of withdrawal that you experience during detox, intensive or more minimal supervision may be required. You need detox when you’re addicted to a physically addictive substance like heroin, crystal meth or prescription opiates.
